Bio Sketch

Mohd Jamal Dar received PhD from the department of Molecular Biology and Genetics Unit ( MBGU) at Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR) under the supervision of Prof. Namita Surolia. He then joined as a postdoctoral fellow at Harvard Medical School / Dana-Farber Cancer Institue with the group of Prof. Alan Engelman and worked on. HIV–1 integrase,  the enzyme responsible for the insertion of the viral DNA into host DNA, as the critical target of anti-AIDS therapy. Following this he worked as a Research Associate (Staff Scientist) with Prof. Paul Monga at University of Pittsburgh Medical Centre (UPMC) and investigated the role of wnt/beta-catenin signaling in cancer and stem cell biology.

  • Identification and in vivo validation of c-Jun-N-Terminal Kinase 3 (JNK-3) inhibitors as novel therapeutics for neurodegenerative diseases. Co- Investigator on this DST-SERB Project with Prof. Partha Sarthy Das at  Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Dhanabad- 00 Lakh for 3 Years,  2018 -2021)
  • Preclinical development of small molecule(s) promoting hair regeneration and studying mechanism of hair regeneration. (Principal Investigator – CSIR approved this project for 3 years on April 11, 2020. Cost of Project: 00 Lakhs)
