Five days workshop on upstream & downstream processing of industrially important enzymes Under the CSIR-Skilled development programme November 7- 11, 2022
Organized By – Fermentation & Microbial Biotechnology Division, CSIR-Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine, Canal Road, Jammu-180001
About Us
The mandate of the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR) – Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine (IIIM) is to discover new drugs and therapeutic approaches from Natural Products, both of plant and microbial origin, enabled by biotechnology, to develop technologies, drugs, and products of high value for the national and international markets.
The Fermentation and Microbial Biotechnology (FMB) Division focus on exploring and exploiting India’s rich microbial diversity for novel bioactive molecules and biocatalysts with application in health, agriculture, and industry, and their overproduction using conventional and molecular biology tools. Our main R&D activities include genetic modification of microbes, process optimization of product synthesis, scale up, downstream processing, purification & characterization of biomolecules for industrial applications.
Our fermentation facility is well equipped with microprocessor-controlled fermenters (5-500L capacity) from lab scale to pilot scale and matching downstream processing faculties for bacterial, fungal, and yeast-based products. The FMB Division is also involved in various consultancy projects and is helping Indian industries to scale up their processes. The Division has many technologies available for technology transfer and provides training on microbial fermentation processes.
