Bio Sketch
Dr. Govind Yadav is microbiologist and his specialization in the area of infectious and immunological aspects of diseases, he worked with prof. Igarashi, the then Director NRCPD,Obihiro,Japan and learn molecular techniques and evaluation of therapeutics . He Joined CSIR-Indian institute of integrative Medicine(CSIR-IIIM) as Scientist in 2010. His area of interest is Development/Establishment of Animal models of human diseases and Invivo preclinical studies for drug discovery and development. He is Interesting to explore natural product through immunomodulatory approach for the treatment/prevention of serious diseases.
Understanding mutagenicity, carcinogenicity of high value promising compounds: cancer risk assessment of new lead compound from drug discovery program by evaluating their Mutagenic /carcinogenic potential in Bacterial reverse gene mutation and Mammalian cell mutation system.
Infectious disease Research and Anti-infective drug discovery: Cysteine protease inhibitors.
We examined the effects of four kinds of cysteine protease inhibitors (E64, E64d, leupeptin, and ALLN) on the in vitro asexual growth of Babesia bovis. Of these, only the lipophilic inhibitors, E64d and ALLN, were found to effectively inhibit the growth of B. bovis. Further, E64d, but not ALLN, significantly suppressed the parasite’s invasion of host erythrocytes, while both chemicals, especially ALLN, inhibited the parasite’s replication within the infected erythrocytes. These data suggested the presence of cysteine protease(s) derived from B. bovis, in which the protease(s) would play important roles in the erythrocyte invasion and/or replication processes of the parasite.
