Bio Sketch
My group screens and validates new drug targets for anti-cancer activity using in-vitro and in-vivo non-clinical studies. We aim to develop and standardize specific breast and ovarian cancer biomarkers to study the anti-cancer activity of the in-housed synthesized compounds. We are going to establish both cell-line (CDX) and patient-derived (PDX) xenograft models for in-vivo evaluation of phytopharmaceuticals using syngeneic and immunocompromised mice (Athymic/SCID/NSG) for validating the in-vitro selected drug. And also, we are currently trying to establish cancer tissue organoid/spheroid cultures and humanized mice to mimic the pathophysiology of the human disease.
My focus will also be on establishing an OECD-GLP-certified test facility with supporting departments as an adjunct of the new animal house. As part of the GLP facility establishment in our institute, my responsibility is to ensure compliance with OECD principles of Good Laboratory Practices, and regulatory (IAEC/CPCSEA, IBSC, state agencies) recommendations, and conduct of GLP study (acute, repeated, and safety pharmacology) using rodents/non-rodents in animal facilities.
As a veterinarian, I ensure the proper health, care, and management of laboratory animals maintained in our laboratory animal facility.
