Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine (IIIM) Srinagar (formerly RRL, Srinagar) is a state of the art laboratory of Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), India located in the Sanat Nagar suburbs of the picturesque Srinagar city. From the very inception, this institute has contributed immensely towards social betterment/upliftment by fostering human resource development as well as setting up small scale industries. Currently the main focus of the institute is to exploit the unique bio-diversity of Kashmir valley with special emphasis on medicinal plants and microbes for drug development. The process involves multidisciplinary scientific teams which include plant and microbial biologists, natural and synthetic chemists, biotechnologists, pharmacologists etc. In addition the Institute is famous for providing technical know-how and propagation of various aromatic crops.

We are organizing a National Conference on the theme “Recent Trends in Plant Biology” during September 05-07, 2022 at Sher-i-Kashmir International Convention Centre (SKICC). The main objective of conference is to bring together plant biologists across the country who would deliver inspiring talks and share their latest research experiences. Given the vast abundance of talent in our valley, we believe the conference will be a means of participation of young students and scientists of the country with the novice researchers of Jammu and Kashmir. Thus, this conference will help to inspire the youth towards research and will be a means to foster research collaborations.

Located in the foothills of the great Himalayas, the Valley of Kashmir is also referred to as Paradise on Earth. Renowned for its pristine waters, lofty forests and lush green meadows, the vale is hailed as a visitor’s delight. The city of Srinagar, which is also referred to as the Venice of East offers many rich experiences. Its chinar lined streets and the world famous Mughal Gardens offer a peak into the rich heritage of the valley. A shikara ride on the tranquil waters of the Dal Lake is also a must experience for every visitor. Besides these, the city is also the shopper’s hub and one can buy all sorts of traditional clothes, handicrafts and souvenirs. One must also indulge in the unique local cuisine especially Wazwan which remains unparalleled throughout the culinary world. Dachigam National Park, which is just 20 mins away from the city centre is the home to the majestic Kashmiri Hangul. For people looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city, the green meadows of Gulmarg and the gurgling waters of Pahalgam are the perfect retreat. These resorts also offer trekking, paragliding and skiing opportunities for alpine enthusiasts. The Gondola ride in Gulmarg which is the world’s highest and second largest cable car ride, is one of the few unique experiences that these places have to offer. The date of conference also delightfully coincides with the arrival of autumn in Kashmir. Thus, the delegates can witness the changing hues of the valley while basking in the glorious autumn sun
