Bio Sketch
Dr. Ramajayan Pandian is a veterinarian cum biologist and a FELASA-certified scientist with immense experience in the field of laboratory animal science. His research group’s work focuses on the identification of small molecules/peptides as enhancers or inhibitors targeting different receptors involved in the pathophysiology of Parkinson’s Disease (PD), emphasizing multitargeted therapeutic approaches for PD. His team explores natural products and their derivatives for their neuroprotective and neuroinflammatory activities in defined in-vitro and in-vivo models of Parkinson’s Disease. Currently, his group focuses on the therapeutic role of cannabinoid and non-cannabinoid molecules/extracts in PD via the modulation of CB1 and CB2 receptors of dopaminergic neurons and glial cells. The other targets aimed at include neurotrophic factor agonists and Monoamine Oxidase B (MAO-B) inhibition, which plays a major role in these neurological conditions. Furthermore, the preclinical evaluation of molecules are performed in α-synuclein A53T transgenic mice model for motor, cognitive behaviors, and clearance of α-synuclein misfolded protein aggregates.
He is expertise in developing syngeneic, xenograft, and humanized mice models in immunocompromised mice for cutting-edge research in cancer. His work experience gained from GLP-certified CRO’s is instrumental in GLP standard facility creation at IIIM and conducting regulatory toxicity studies as per OECD and CDSCO guidelines.

Dr. Samriti Dogra is currently working in the PAN CSIR Cancer project HCP-40. Her work focuses on the development of in-vivo cancer models, i.e., syngeneic mice models in Balb/c, xenograft mice models in athymic nude mice, NOD SCID mice, and humanized mice models in NSG mice to perform in-vivo efficacy studies for in-house anti-cancerous molecules. |
