Bio Sketch
Dr. Firdoous Ahmad Mir is Scientist at IIIM Srinagar (Branch IIIM Jammu) of Plant Science Division. He is working on germplasm collection of rare, threatened, endangered and highly demanded medicinal plants; Conservation strategies of threatened medicinal plants via in-vitro and ex-vitro methods; field evaluations of accessions, morphological and molecular characterization; traceability of raw drugs from harvest to consumption level; elicitation of secondary metabolites via in-vitro;transformation, protoplast culture, anther culture, pollen culture, somatic embryogenesis.Apart from this He is working for development of agrotechnology for economic plants to boost the economy of farmers. Several activities were undertaken for achieving these objectives including collection of germplasm from different agroclimatic zones, their conservation, in-vitro propagation for large scale multiplication, field experiments for agro-techniques, conducting farmer’s training program. The purpose of long field experiments is to develop the sustainable development of waste land via economic plants and enhance the total economy to grower’s.
