Bio Sketch
Current research work involves anti-diabetic activity investigations using rodent models and in vitro, in vivo anti -inflammatory activity assays. Past indicates experience in deducing the signalling events via PI3K gamma following stimulation of mu-opioid receptor and industrial experience of Pharmacokinetics as part of drug discovery.
Emerging trends indicate life style disorders like diabetes mellitus, obesity and rheumatoid arthritis are chronic inflammatory conditions. Cytokines, nitric oxide play an important role in mediating inflammatory processes leading to disease states. Herbal extracts/preparations/derivatives and novel dosage forms of natural compounds form a promising group of agents, from the times of Ayurveda and other ancient Indian medical systems, for the treatment of chronic diseases/inflammatory conditions. The main research focus is towards discovery and development of natural products as promising therapies for alleviation of inflammation with an aim to develop anti-diabetic/ anti-obesity/ pain relieving medications.
