Bio Sketch
Dr. Gousia Chashoo is currently working as a Women Scientist under the DST-WISE Postdoctoral Fellowship programme in the Pharmacology Division of CSIR-IIIM Jammu. She earned her Ph.D. from the Cancer Pharmacology Division of CSIR-IIIM (registered under BVP Pune), where she investigated the anticancer efficacy of novel semisynthetic boswellic acid analogs. Her doctoral work yielded significant mechanistic insights and resulted in publications in esteemed, peer-reviewed scientific journals.
Following her Ph.D., Dr. Chashoo advanced her research career through highly competitive fellowships, serving as a CSIR Research Associate, a CSIR Senior Research Associate (Pool Scientist), and later as an ICMR-DHR Young Scientist. During this period, she concentrated on targeting cyclin-dependent kinases (CDKs) in cancer, contributing substantially to the field through impactful publications and patent filings.
Presently, her research focuses on the development and preclinical evaluation of PARP inhibitors as promising therapeutic agents for breast and ovarian cancers. In addition to her primary project, she actively contributes to several ongoing research initiatives within the cancer pharmacology programme at the institute. Throughout her scientific journey, Dr. Chashoo has been honoured with prestigious national fellowships and awards, reflecting her commitment to advancing translational cancer research in India.
