Bio Sketch
Dr. Kaiser Peerzada is currently working as Scientist fellow under the HRD scheme of Women scientist, in Pharmacology Division, at the CSIR-Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine Jammu, Jammu & Kashmir, India,. She received her PhD in Enzyme kinetics and Gene cloning from University of Kashmir, J&K, India. She did her post-doctoral training in the Department of Phamacology CSIR Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine Jammu, J&K, India. Her primary research interest lies in understanding mechanistic basis of airway remodelling and cellular physiology in a small animal models of respitratory tract inflammation.
The other area of interest includes
- Proteomics of Allergic disorders/Asthma/COPD in experimental animal models.
- Molecular mechanisms regulating metabolism and inflammatory pathways of respiratory disorders like COPD. The importance of airway inflammation and bronchial hyperresponsiveness is stressed, with implications for effective treatment.
- Investigating the role of mast cells in tissue remodelling in established inflammatory models (In vitro and In vivo). The objective is to study and develop strategies to modulate mast cell activations in respiratory diseases via calcium and inflammatory signaling pathways.
- Identification and development of small molecule as effector against the targets such as cPLA2, PDE4, Lipooxygenases, and antagonist for leukotriene receptors, useful to manage respiratory diseases and/ or that may theoretically slow the functional decline in COPD.
