The second half-yearly meeting of ‘Town Official Language Implementation Committee (TOLIC), Jammu’ for the year 2023-24 was held here today at CSIR-Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine (CSIR-IIIM), Jammu which was chaired by Dr. Zabeer Ahmed, Chairman, TOLIC, Jammu and Director, CSIR-IIIM.Kishore Kumar, Deputy Director General, National Sample Survey Office, Regional Office, Jammu; Dr. Sanjay Singh, Assistant Director, Regional Ayurveda Research Institute, Jammu; Lalit Mohan, Joint Director, Inter-state Police Wireless Centre, Santosh Kumar, Assistant Director, Central Hindi Training Institute and Rajesh Gupta, Administrative Officer, CSIR-IIIM, Jammu were among others 60 members who attended this meeting.Dr. Zabeer Ahmed, Director, CSIR-IIIM & Chairman TOLIC, while speaking on the occasion, appreciated the operational excellence of TOLIC and also said that there is still a larger gap for improvement and we, together, shall work as one to close all the gaps and make this TOLIC Chapter as one of the best in the entire country.

He emphasized on the importance of love for our mother tongue which acts as a major factor in adopting Hindi as the working language anywhere. He also stressed upon the members institutions to implement the use of Hindi language in all official working and termed that in the development of our nation and sustaining the Indian culture, its implementation is the underlying necessity. Chairman TOLIC and other dignitaries have released the 11th Edition of TOLIC, Jammu’s Annual Magazine ‘Gyanvarta.’ Sanjay Sharma, Member-Secretary, TOLIC, Jammu presented the progress on implementation of Hindi in various Central Government Offices in Jammu area. The work of all associated institutions/offices was reviewed on the basis of Quarterly Progress Reports submitted by them.

During the proceedings of the meeting, the Member-Secretary shared that a total of 51 member institutes/offices had sent their Quarterly Progress Reports out of which 43 recorded excellent performance in the last two quarters, viz. April-June, 2023 & July-September, 2023. This was followed by open house discussion and the review of the decisions taken during the last meeting.It was highlighted that as discussed in the last meeting, the social media handles have been created for TOLIC including the Official WhatsApp group which currently has over 63 participants from different member institutes.The number of member offices which are regularly sending their reports has risen during the last quarter. TOLIC, Jammu’s social media presence continues to be the only one in the entire nation.During the open house discussion, Santosh Kumar, Assistant Director, Central Hindi Training Institute, Jammu highlighted the importance of nominating employees on a regular basis to further the progress on implementing Hindi in the Government Offices.Later, suggestions and feedback points were invited by the Member-Secretary and the same were discussed in the meeting. All members present in the meeting have in one voice assured all possible efforts to implement the use of Hindi at their respective organisations.
