Area of Expertise
High lipophilicity and low water solubility are increasingly common characteristics of drug discovery molecules and clinical drugs. The preclinical formulations are necessary to acquire sufficient systemic exposure in order to select, optimize and advance compounds on a broad range of pharmaceutically related properties/profiles including pharmacology, pharmacokinetics and toxicology. Also, a number of clinical drugs possesses sub-optimal physicochemical properties and are associated with compromised bioavailability and adverse effects. Exploration of various pharmaceutical and pharmacological drug delivery strategies are needed to realize true potential of drug discovery molecules/clinical drugs. In these directions our research work focuses on pre-clinical formulation development for discovery molecules, utilization of pharmaceutical and pharmacological approaches for improved efficacy of bioactive molecules, strategies for solubility enhancement/modulation of bioavailability, controlled and targeted drug delivery, formulation strategies for modulation of macrophage recognition, cancer nanomedicine, drug delivery approaches for modulation of tumor microenvironment and novel drug delivery systems.
