Bio Sketch
Dr. Showkat Rashid is a Senior Scientist at CSIR-Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine (IIIM) Jammu. He has been working in the field of Natural product total synthesis, Synthesis of complex non-natural/biologically important molecules and Synthesis of smart drug delivery biomaterials. He persued masters in chemistry (2010) and M.Phil. (2013) in Medicinal chemistry from the University of Kashmir-Srinagar. Subsequently, he joined Dr. Bilal A. Bhat (Principal Scientist, IIIM Srinagar) for his Ph.D. program and worked in a collaborative research project between Dr. Bhat and Prof. Goverdhan Mehta in the area of Natural product synthesis.
After completing his Ph.D. program, Dr. Showkat did his initial postdoctoral training with Prof. Goverdhan Mehta at University of Hyderabad. Later on, he moved to Prof. Shinichi Saito’s Group, Tokyo University of Science-Japan, wherein his research was oriented towards the Synthesis of molecular machines for smart drug delivery applications.
Dr. Showkat’s current research interests include the total synthesis of bioactive Natural product and multistep synthesis of biologicaly previledged scaffolds having implications in various medicinal chemistry domains.
