Research Area

Presently engaged in evaluating in vivo anticancer potential of natural and semi-synthetic natural products in murine models of different cancers as per NCI protocols.  For this purpose, established nine models of murine cancer at IIIM, Jammu.

Areas of Research Interest:

  • Studying in vivo anticancer potential of natural products using human cancer xenografts in nude / SCID mice.

  • Non-invasive detection and quantification of tumors using in vivo imaging system.

  • Stem cell biology.

Scientific Contribution:

Established a small facility housing delicate strains of laboratory mice (including immunodeficient mice) for studying in vivo anticancer potential of natural and semi-synthetic natural products in murine models. Studied over 300 samples for their anticancer potential in murine and human cancer xenograft models which lead to publications and patents.  

Supervised more than 30 students from different universities for their project work forming a part of their post-graduate degree programmes like M. Sc. /M. Tech / M. Pharm in Biotechnology / Biosciences / Pharmaceutical Sciences / Biochemistry / Medical Laboratory Technology.

Presently guiding eight Ph.D. students registered with Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, Katra and Academy of Scientific & Innovative Research (AcSIR), New Delhi.
