Mentha species

Mentha arvensis L.
Main constituents:  Menthol, Menthyl acetate, MenthoneUses: As a flavouring agent in toothpastes, chewing gum, mouthwash, beverages, cigarettes, betlenuts, confectionery and constituents of large number of cosmetic preparations, aftershave lotions, deodorants, perfumes.
Mentha piperita Huds.
Family: Lamiaceae
Main constituents:  Menthol, Menthyl acetate, Menthone
Uses: Pharmaceutical products, flavour in food products, tooth-paste, confectionery, tobacco, alcoholic beverage and variety of products.
Mentha citerata L.
Family: Lamiaceae
Quality profile: Linalool, Linalyl acetage
Uses: Used in perfumery, cosmetics, soaps and other toiletry items
Anant carvomint (Mentha longifolia)
A Temperate, sub-temperate subtropical and Tropical
Quality profile: l-carvone, l-limonene
Uses: Perfume, Flavour and Pharmaceutical Industry
Monarda citriodora Cerv. ex Lag. (Family- Lamiaceae)
Plant was introduced in India  by Scientists of IIIM, Jammu during 1999 from Europe.
Quality profile: Thymol, Carvacrol, p-cymene, g-terpinene
Uses: Perfume, Flavour and Pharmaceutical Industry. The essential oil and thymol are having anti-bacterial properties.
